Would you like to become a foster
We are always looking for loving foster families to adopt a Smart Pup for the duration of its training. Foster Carers will care for a puppy from when it is eight to 10 weeks old until they enter the final stages of training at around 12 months of age. Smart Pups need special care; pups must live inside the home (sleeping crate supplied) and require lots of socialisation in order to be prepared for the life of an Assistance Dog. Our trainers will pick up the puppy for training and provide all food and ongoing vet care. Foster families are required to attend puppy classes (which are lots of fun!) and learn the basic obedience commands involved in day-to-day training. Our Smart Pup foster families are an integral part of our organisation and help us provide well-socialised and fully qualified Assistance Dogs to Australian families.
If you’d like more information about the responsibilities involved with fostering a Smart Pup, or would like to apply to become a foster,
