The severity of my PTSD and anxiety, along with multiple hospital admissions, led me to having to leave school during Year 11 as I could not cope with being at school, the pressures and being around large groups of people.

My PTSD and anxiety has also meant that my ability to make and sustain friendships has been majorly impacted. I can no longer handle being around many people like shopping or just going to the park without my main carers because it causes bad panic attacks. I even had to stop dancing, which is my biggest love. There are days where I struggle to even get out of bed and even leave the house due to my anxiety and fear. I struggle to do the things that other people my age find easy, like walking out the gate by myself, going to the shop by myself and catching public transport.

I am fundraising for a Smart Pup to help me live a normal life without being afraid of leaving the house. Having a Smart Pup would change my life. It will give me the independence and support I need to live life to the fullest. A PTSD/anxiety assistance dog would help me in so many ways but the main one being helping me be an independent young woman again, making me get out the house and provide a sense of routine and companionship. A PTSD dog would also provide me with physical support when experiencing flashbacks or nightmares, and bringing me back to the present moment and reducing the severity/length of my panic attacks.

Please help me on my journey towards living and experiencing a life a young woman my age should.

This organisation is a non for-profit organisation and we feel well and truly honoured to have been chosen. The training for the pup can take 12-18 months but it is intense, and these dogs are just incredible.
