16 May Smart Pup for Charley
Hey everyone, this is Charley. He is Six Years old and he has been diagnosed with Autism Level 2, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Social Communication Disorder and Generalist Anxiety.
He is a beautiful, kind, caring little boy who struggles to deal with everyday life. When Charley was nine months old, we had our first trip to the Royal children’s hospital in Melbourne (one and a half hours from our home). This was the first of many trips to RCH and Monash Children’s Hospital ( More than two hours from our home ) and when Charley was just two years old, he had his first surgery. When Charley was four, he received the diagnosis mentioned above which have turned our lives upside down. Charley has daily Meltdowns that are generally extremely violent and distressing for everyone involved, he has no control over this and will often attempt to self-punish as a consequence. He has no concept of danger and will run into traffic. He also has little understanding of appropriate social behaviours and finds community access extremely challenging. Conventional methods have been unsuccessful, and Charley is deteriorating. An Autism Assistance Dog would change our lives and help Charley navigate the world, whilst dramatically reducing the amount of meltdowns Charley has, which would significantly impact our life, we appreciate your support and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Your donation will be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. This organisation is a non for-profit organisation. The training for the pup can take 12-18 months but it is intense, and these dogs are just incredible.
Thank you for your donation! All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Thank You, Karah
