10 Apr Smart Pup for James
A mobility and autism assistance dog will help James navigate the world as he grows. Be a friend to lean on when he is feeling unsteady. To help him stay calm, self regulate and keep him safe. A bridge to give him the confidence to socialise and explore new environments.
James has faced challenges over the past 2 years. After a rushed entry into the world, he suffered neonatal seizures, landing him in NICU. He was subsequently diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 4 months and has only ever known a life of therapy and appointments. Recently not long after his 2nd birthday he received an additional diagnosis of ASD. James struggles to express himself and make social connections.
We like all parents, want James to have a happy and fulfilled life. When looking into alternative solutions to help James over come some of the challenges he faces we came across smart pups. We were thrilled when James’s application was accepted into the program.
Attaining a smart pup is not an immediate process. First we need to raise $20,000 to go towards the extensive training. Training that takes a minimum of 12 months and that can not begin until the money is raised. With early access into the smart pup program James could have his furry partner in crime at an age when it will have the greatest impact on his life.
Your donation will be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. This organisation is a non for-profit organisation and we feel well and truly honoured to have been chosen. The training for the pup can take 12-18 months but it is intense, and these dogs are just incredible.
