25 Jul Smart Pup for London
Since London was a baby we always knew she was different from the “norm”. At the young age of 3 London was diagnosed with Autism, severe global developmental delays , PICA, sleep dysregulation, a rare genetic condition from a chromosomal deletion leaving her as “SWAN”, being investigated for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, the possibility of an intellectual disability and much much more.
London is so unique in her own special way, She can read at 3, has excellent numerical knowledge and can tell you every Paw Patrol characters name, vehicle, colour and catchphrase. London loves music and enjoys singing songs. She is extremely cheeky, very funny and once you’re in her circle of trusted family / friends she will love you forever but…..
London struggles with sensory issues which affect her everyday life. Things like getting dressed, bathing, the food she eats, being unable to sit still, constantly needing to touch everything and her high pain tolerance.
When going out to a park or somewhere in public that London needs to walk and not be carried, like at the shops or her older sisters (Charlotte) school. Her family struggle to keep her close. London runs away in the blink of an eye frequently and unknowingly puts herself in danger because of this.
Going shopping with London can be extremely overwhelming for both London and her family, with London needing to leave early because of a sensory overload due to the environment of the shops or challenging behaviour like frequent episodes of crying, tantrums and aggression if things do not go her way.
London’s severe cognitive inflexibility, severe impairment of social communication and severe language impairment leave London feeling very frustrated causing her to have major meltdowns which can result in London hurting herself or someone else.
Having a smart pup in London’s life will help her to remain calm and anchored in position when out and about preventing her from running away, disrupt repetitive or destructive behaviours, could improve sleeping habits, feel safer, ease sensory overload, provide emotional support as her companion and it would mean that London, her new pup, and her family would be able to go and experience more outside of the home together.
Londons bridge to a better life with a SmartPup is only $20,000 away.
Your donation will be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. This organisation is a non for-profit organisation. The training for the pup can take 12-18 months but it is intense, and these dogs are just incredible.
Thank you for your donation! All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
