27 Jun Smart Pup for Marleigh
Our precious little Marleigh Jessica is fighting one hell of a battle at the moment. In addition to her Epilepsy and rare genetic form of Diabetes, she is currently being treated for Acute Autoimmune Encephalitis and despite giving her massive doses of up to 7 anticonvulsants medications we are unable to stop her seizure activity.
Nearly 3 weeks ago we were put into a helicopter in the middle of the night and rushed from The CANBERRA Hospital to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Sydney Children’s Hospital. We had 5 long terrifying nights of her being in PICU and not knowing if she would be coming home.
Our family is now split up. Marleigh and I are living on the Neuro Ward at SCH and Geoff is back in CANBERRA with our boys. Up until yesterday she was unable to walk or stand, while we have had some promising signs her speech is still badly impacted and we aren’t sure what her physical capacity will be, even with an extensive rehab program.
A Seizure Alert Dog and this will be life changing for our whole family!!!!! She is unable to go to childcare and as her seizures are uncontrolled and her epilepsy refractory she won’t be able to attend preschool next year.
A seizure alert dog can change all that for her. She deserves a childhood and we need help to get her to adulthood 🐶 thank you!!!!
Your donation will be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. This organisation is a non for-profit organisation. The training for the pup can take 12-18 months but it is intense, and these dogs are just incredible.
