27 Mar Sebastian’s Smart Pup
For those who don’t know Sebastian, he is a 10 year old boy.
He has faced many challenges in his life. Sebastian was born and diagnosed with having Globe Delay [ Fine Motor and Gross Motor Skills], Autism, ADHD, Severe Anxiety, Severe language Disorder, Loss of Hearing, Sensory Process Disorder, Chromosome Duplication Gene, and has an Intellectual Disability, all from the age of 3yrs.
In July 2017 after Sebastian’s 10th Birthday , he was diagnosed with having Glaucoma and low vision. Which means that Sebastian’s vision is damaged and overtime he will become blind due to the optic nerve losing its function. Sebastian at this stage walks around with a white cane all the time, he also wears dark sunglasses.
As he grows we learn more about his challenges, how to work with them, and overcome them. Words do not come easily to Sebastian but he still a very, very special boy, who loves simple things in life which are music, singing, laughing and his iPad [he loves to watch YouTube on it] he also loves Lego, superheroes, old cars, medieval knight and Vikings.
This Assistance Mobility Dog will help change Sebastian’s life with :
1. Assisting him with specific daily routines.
2. Reduce anxiety, minimizes meltdowns.
3. Provide a bridge between the rest of the world, easing feelings of isolation as well as fostering opportunities for social inclusion.
4. Friendship and belonging.
5. Navigate his way around in the community.
The Smart Pup will be selected especially for Sebastian and will be specially trained to suit his needs. It can take up to 2 years of training for the dog to be ready.
This is an expensive and project and costs at least $25,000 of which we need to raise $20,000 to contribute.
The dog will only begin training once we have reached our fundraising goal of $20,000.
All donations made are charitable donations to Smart Pups. They are a non profit organization , they are based in QLD. Donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit more about Sebastian’s journey and helping him achieve his goal.
This Assistance Dog will be Sebastian’s best friend for life
