Eleven years ago I was given a very special gift ..that gift changed mine and my young daughters life at the time she was just seven years old. The gift came in the form of a young black lab and his magical red coat. In September 2011 I was handed the leash of my first assistance dog , his name was Kruiser he was one of the first Smart Pups.
Kruiser was trained as a seizure assistance dog but over the years he became so much more .. Kruiser became my life line. In the 11years he was with me, he saved my life more than once and also gave me a life allowing both my self and my daughter to live life the way we wished. However Life changed dramatically on the 18th of February 2021 after having him by my side for eleven years. My daughter, my partner and I had to say good bye after short battle with cancer – my boy passed away peacefully.
I called Kruiser my magician…because every where we went and every thing we did with him by my side was magic as every person we met Kruiser left a little of himself … he saved my life countless times with the training Patrica and her team gave him …. but most of all kruiser showed me that bravery is something you are not something you need to find …. my boy … my magician taught me how to be brave …
In the in light of kruiser death I was faced with a very difficult choice , do I apply for another dog or not. but after having a seizure in public and not getting a warning for the first time in 11years that decision was made for me …. so now I once again i find myself in the process of fundraising for not a replacement for my kruiser … but his predecessor or as we like to call them ” Kruiser 2.0 The Next generation ” ….
My hope is that the new dog that will smart pups provides me will help me to continue to live the life the way my kruiser taught me and be the person I wish a to be … I miss my boy life with out him the last month or so has been very very tough I’m hoping that the funds need for smart pups to train is predecessor can be raised quickly so that life move forward…Any donation towards “Kruiser 2.0 The next generation ” will be most appreciated….
