Porter doesn’t cope with noise, lights or with more than a few people near him, so our lives have become much different to those of parents with Neuro-typical kids. We can’t go to his brother’s soccer games as a family unit, or to the movies, or to the shops, or to birthday parties. Porter has trouble regulating his emotions and has no sense of danger. An Autism Assist Dog will support Porter in public places, will be harnessed to him to prevent him from running into traffic etc, will interrupt repetitive behaviour, and will lay on him when he becomes disregulated and needs deep pressure to calm down. We are doing most fundraising online due to COVID restrictions. I am currently pulling together donated prizes from local businesses for a raffle. We’d love to raise awareness of Autism and encourage the community to get behind Porter’s fundraising efforts xx
