Jai is non verbal and struggles to understand language and communicate his wants, needs and feelings which often results in meltdowns and self harming or destructive behaviour. Jai has no understanding of things that might be dangerous to himself or others like cars on a road which means we cannot take him anywhere without being secured in a special needs stroller.

As Jai is growing he is experiencing so much more in the world but it can often be very difficult for him to process what he feels and what is going on around him which causes him to get extremely overwhelmed and act out or abscond.

A smart pup is able to come with us everywhere we go. Jai will have a best friend to explore new environments and help him stay calm if he becomes overwhelmed, to help him stay safe by being an anchor to stop him from running off or wandering and if the worst happened they are also trained to track him.

A smart pup can help with Jai’s own daily routines but also by giving him responsibilities that will increase his communication and independence skills and create opportunities to socialise with other kids and hopefully help him to make more friends.

These incredible pups are trained to sense when Jai is struggling and provide comfort and emotional support by nuzzling, giving kisses or laying over him for deep pressure to prevent meltdowns or destructive behaviours and also to help settle and sleep beside him at night.

We know it is going to be a long journey as it can take up to 24 months to train our highly skilled pup and that cannot begin until we have raised $20,000 to go towards the extensive training.
