30 Nov Smart Pup for Summer
Summer is an energetic, passionate 9-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with level 2 Autism and high anxiety. She has 2 sisters, Libby 11 and Lakey 3. Lakey has also been diagnosed as level 2 on the Autistic Spectrum.
Summer loves sports and is very talented – particularly at Running and Soccer – even making the State Championships for her running ability. Unfortunately, her experience at States was too overwhelming and she had to leave. Now, the thought of driving anywhere can be very upsetting for Summer, which limits her participation in things that she loves and is passionate about.
As a 9 year old girl, Summer desperately tries to be like ‘everyone else’ and enjoy time at the beach and go to the movies, Sadly, She is yet to make it past the foyer at the movies as it is just too much for her. Enjoying a day at the beach is also difficult, with Summer unable to even make it to the beach access path. Australia Zoo is one of Summer’s favourite places to go and she absolutely loves Dingos! She loves dogs too and can’t fall asleep at night without her buddy Chilli, the family’s gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback, by her side.
Summer has named her SmartPup her ‘HERO’, as it will keep her safe and help her to do the things that other children do. Summer’s SmartPup will also help her to be much more stable in school. Currently she spends a lot of time in the school Support Centre, which she calls her ‘Safe Place’. Days that are a celebration for the kids such as Parades and Sports Days are extremely overwhelming for Summer, causing her to run and hide. A SmartPup will be a constant companion for Summer, allowing her to feel safe and secure where ever she may be, calming her anxiety and helping her feel brave.
A SmartPup will not only change Summer’s life but mean the world to her family, who just want to see her happy. Summer and her family are currently fundraising $20,000 for their V.I.P. (Very Important Pup) and thank you from the bottom of their hearts for all the ongoing support and donations made.
A SmartPup will be a truly priceless addition to Summer’s family.’
