Smart Pup for Sunny

Smart Pup for Sunny

Sunny Rose is just as her name suggests a beautiful, happy and sunny girl. Sunny was born in 2008 with a chromosome translocation, which means that she is missing some bits of her DNA and have to much of others. Sunny’s condition is extremely rare and so far we do not know of another person with exactly the same condition.

Due to the severity of her condition, Sunny cannot talk and walk and she has both hearing and vision impairment. Sunny was extremely sick when little and spent 3 years under palliative care, but against all the odds she got better and is doing really well today, attending school and going to the beach in the weekends with her mum and little brother.

However, Sunny does have uncontrolled epilepsy with almost daily seizures. These fits are not very nice, and they make both Sunny and her mum, Karina, very upset. A lot of the time, the seizures happen early in the morning when everyone is still asleep, which is very upsetting to Sunny and can be very dangerous.

Getting a smartpup will change Sunny’s life. A smartpup can alert mum when Sunny is having a seizure and will also help in the recovery process after the seizure, which can be very hard as Sunny is both tired and a bit upset. A smartpup may even be able to let mum know when a seizure is about to happen so she can take necessary precautions and make Sunny as comfortable as possible.

Your donation will be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. This organisation is a non for-profit organisation and we feel well and truly honoured to have been chosen. The training for the pup can take 12-18 months but it is intense, and these dogs are just incredible.

I listen to Gold 104.3 and heard about Smart Pups. Rheegan got enough money for his smart pup, so I felt my donation was better directed to another child who needs one too. Dogs are such amazing, intuitive and loving companions, I hope Sunny gets her pup too.

Every little girl should have a dog of their own – however a smartpup will make an even bigger difference to you and your mum Sunny.

I used to watch programs on special needs puppy’s and I believe a lot of positive assistance can be gained; I hope the perfect puppy can be found to help both of you with her condition 🙂
